What is it?

In 2014, the first Bodypainting Day was held in none other than New York City!

Licensed by the NYC Parks Department, 30 artists from around the country painted over 40 fully nude male and female models in in the public streets at Columbus Circle near the entrance of Central Park. In 2015, we will have 50 artists painting 100 models.

New York City is one of the few places in the US where it is legal for public nudity to take place for the purpose of art. Artists were selected by organizers Andy Golub and Champion Bodypainter Craig Tracy. Models of various ages, ethnicities and body types were selected by Young Naturists America. Paints were donated by Kryolan Professional Makeup.

After 4 hours of painting, lunch was donated by Two-Boots Pizza, then artists and models were joined by the public in a march down Broadway into Times Square. Artists and models then rode a double decker bus around the city, followed by a gallery show of Andy’s art at Jerry’s International Palette Shop. The evening ended with an after-party at Times Scare.

This inaugural event was very successful. It attracted large crowds, was well received by the public and garnered worldwide press totaling over 1.7 billion media impressions. 2015 is shaping up to be a great year with a bigger and better Bodypainting Day in New York as well as one in London later in the summer.
